IC INFO;
Character Name: Keith Kogane (not his offical last name, just what most people call him. I personally don’t care and can go by Keith alone.)
Canon: Voltron: Legendary Defender
Canon Information: Voltron: Legendary Defender Offical Site Keith Personal History
Canon Point: Season 6 - Episode 7 - Defender of All Universes
Age: 21
God Houses: List two to three gods that might suit your character, and provide a sentence or two of justification for each. Please note which one your character will be choosing ICly once they enter the game.
Hemidall - When it comes to loyalty, Keith is your man. He stays true to those he gives his loyalty to. Even if he’s far away he will come when called or stand between them and the forces arranged against them. A soldier in defense of the universe, he knows what duty demands and he will do it.
Frigg - Loyal as Keith is, that isn’t the only reason he fights. He fights with his heart. Even if told the mission is everything, he can’t accept that. He will always follow his heart. If he cares and loves someone he will fight and fight to keep them safe or to free them. If he had to choose between his own life or those he loves, he would give himself up without a thought. They matter the most to him.

Keith will icly choose Hemidall.

Personality: We all at one point or another struggle to know who we are. For Keith, that’s a fight he’s been in since the beginning. He’s the quiet guy in social situations that stays in the back and observes. He doesn’t connect well with others and what words he says are important. Keith has always been one to set his sights on what needs to be done and does it. He can struggle to get there but what needs done is very important to him. He rarely opens up and if he gives his loyalty one has a steadfast ally on their team.

His self-imposed walls are one of the many obstacles in his path to having bonds with other people. Keith lost his father when he was young and his mother wasn’t in the picture. He got used to being given up on and protected himself by letting no one in.

‘Look I know I messed up. You should send me back to the home already.’ - Keith. Season 7, Episode 1 - A little adventure.

We see signs of that when he just puts up with remarks from teammates and only explodes when goaded into it. He rarely shares what he’s feeling and even his best friend has to guess sometimes. It just doesn’t feel important to him. He focuses on what’s going on around him and everyone else. This has nearly lead to fatal disaster, his struggle to find a place to belong lead up to an attempt to sacrifice himself for the greater good.

‘If it wasn’t for you you, my life would have been a lot different.’ - Keith. Season 2, Episode 1 - Across the Universe.

Meeting Shiro changed Keith’s life for the better. Finally, someone listened to him. He could voice his opinions and they weren’t immediately shot down. Having someone to support and care about him while allowing him to make mistakes was huge. It didn’t fix all of his problems but it gave him a solid life line and a means to better himself. Even to reach out to others. Shiro’s kindness sparked the part of Keith he had almost forgotten in the years since his father died.

’Why would you make me the leader?’

‘Because I know what you’re capable of, if you can learn some self-discipline.’

‘Why are we even talking about this. Nothing is gonna happen to you.’” - Keith and Shiro. Season 2, episode 8 - The Blade of Marmora.

Keith isn’t the sort of person that wants to be a leader. He steps in when he’s needed and is content to hang back and let things play out. But he also has a strong sense of justice and won’t tolerate a wrong doing. He’s passionate and that can get in his way of seeing the whole picture. But when others lives are on the line he sets everything aside and instinctively uses what he has to protect them. With training under his belt that is easier and easier to do, his leadership style being a light touch on the reigns of his team when they need to be reigned in.

He isn’t without his flaws or struggles. As we discussed above he’s a very private person. He has a difficult time bringing up his own problems and doubts. Even if he trusts someone he struggles to discuss himself. Likewise he isn’t that great at comforting other people. Emotions can and will always be a hurdle with anyone but Shiro. Because of Shiro’s impact on his life he’s deemed safe territory. He can and will eventually open up to other people, forming tentative ties with them but it will take time. He is quick to shut himself off and back off if something isn’t acceptable.

While having his mother in his life and living with her for two years helped soothe his temper, it didn’t negate it. He can and will get easily frustrated with situations he feels are a waste of time. If pushed to his limits he will explode. His control over his own impulsive nature to charge into the fray isn’t as strong as other people’s. As I said, he’s passionate and that tends to cause him to fixate on his goals. Some of those problems are partly because he’s half alien. The Galra are violent, passionate people that give their all to everything. But, that’s only part of it. His past as an orphan drives a lot of what he says and does.

Keith isn’t all seriousness and fighting. He does have a lighter side to him more often seen around Shiro and the rest of team Voltron. Times when Lance lands himself in hot water Keith is there to tease him about it. He cracks jokes and laughs at visual jokes like any one else. And when the rest of the team need reassurance Keith has been there to quietly boost morale. From telling Lance to focus on his missions to thanking Hunk for his quick thinking, he is capable of trusting and supporting those around him. But only if he lets them in.

In closing, Keith has made great strides into finding his place and taking charge of his own life. As he settles into his role as leader, he keeps steadily improving himself and learning how to reign in his emotions. He still has far to go to be as solid a leader as his predecessor but he’ll get there in his own way. Whether he has people to back him he will always leap into action when he’s needed. At the end of the day, even if he’s left the center stage he still is a capable man that gets things done.
